Mr. and Mrs. Masterton

Day 7

We were back in Kampala today visiting the Makindye orphanage (Orphan Relief Ministry) and it was a great way to end Uganda 2012 before we begin our journey home tomorrow evening. We are meeting up with Bishop Yusto tomorrow to finalize a couple of items as we near the 2013 year,

but today was awesome!

Birthdays are not something normally celebrated as it is money that is needed elsewhere, so we had three birthday cakes made, balloons blown up and gift packages for all of the kids as we had one BIG birthday party for all of the orphans. Outside of our horrible rendition of Happy Birthday, the kids had a great time. Our church and other great partners have been sponsoring these kids for almost five years. It is amazing to see the transformation in their demeanors and self-confidence as they have been enrolled.
Jamie and I had the opportunity to visit with Josephine and her sister Juliet which remains the highlight for us. We have been sponsoring Josephine since the beginning and we consider her a part of our family. She told us today she wants to go to medical school to be a doctor! Good thing she is only thirteen as we have some pennies to save!
Thanks to the generosity of many of you, we supplied mosquito nets, sheets and blankets for 64 kids today. This was a great gift as we provided all of these kids bed rolls last year. We also provided all 64 kids with new sneakers. Needless to say, they were all screaming with excitement. As we end Uganda 2012, I really want to thank each of you who have supported this trip in prayers as well as financially. Some sponsored children to go to school and others partnered with the projects while we were in country.
Would you be interested in being involved? If you want to sponsor a child, let us know! If you want to support Uganda 2013, start now! If you want to donate and have the money put to work immediately, we can make it happen. If you visited the website of Fount of Mercy and want to make a difference, donate to their cause. If you prefer to impact your local community, great….Go do it.
Do for one what you would like to do for many. If you can’t go deep, go wide. If you can’t go wide, go deep with that one. Be the change you want to see in this world.
